Tips on Serving

There are many, many different methods of serving in racquetball, but how do you know which serve to use. My advice would be to feel out your opponent as you warm-up, and take notice at what they have difficulty doing whether it's backhand/forehand swings or they can't move very fast. Once you've figured out there weakest aspect, exploit it and tailor a serve that would be very difficult to return. If they are weak on the backhand, serve to the backhand. If they are slow and can't move, serve a low, fast ball that they would have to work hard for. If your opponent doesn't have any weaknesses, try a lob serve to their backhand side. Most times if you hit it accurately this serve will lose momentum and die in the corner. I hope this was a help. Good luck in the courts.

Beat an Officer and Membership is FREE

Tonight I will be organizing the club meeting at the racquetball courts. Just recently the officers and I have decided to make the membership fee a little more interesting. The fee is $10 for the fall and spring semester, but if you can beat a officer in a game of racquetball then the membership is free. This will hopefully bring in more interested people than before because there is a chance of saving ten bucks. In the very least we will get some competitive play for the first night. Hope to see everyone there and remember to tell a friend about racquetball club.

Club Meetings Start Today!!

Club meetings start today Sept. 16th at 5:30pm - 6:30pm at the racquetball courts in the Morrow Field House. These meetings will be held every Wednesday and Thursday night from 5:30-6:30pm. Participation in only one meeting per week is necessary, but coming to both is encouraged. For the first meeting, the officers of the club will introduce themselves and need to collect dues from those that have there money. Again the annual club fee is only $10 covering the fall and the spring semester. With the remaining time, members and guests may play each other. For anyone planning on coming to the first meeting, remember to wear athletic apparel and come with a lot of energy. Good luck in the courts!

Club Meetings Fall 2009

Hello my fellow racquetball enthusiasts. The racquetball club offers a variety of racquetball options to club members. The club is open to players of all skill levels and abilities. This is the first year that SRU will participate in the newly formed Mid Eastern Racquetball Conference (MERC). Other schools in the conference are University of Akron, Ohio State University, Baldwin Wallace, California University of PA, and more. The goals of the club are to promote the sport of racquetball, enhance players' skills, share knowledge of the game, offer internal and external playing opportunities, and promote camaraderie and sportsmanship by members. Executive members this year are Buddy Brudowsky as president, Andrew Weiland as vice president, Ben Rittenhouse as treasurer, and Greg Sferra as the club advisor.
